Pencil Sharpener

This old sharpener sat gathering dust in an abandon school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The window light struck this old rusting sharpener in such a way to strike my interest as I explored the abandon and trashed school rooms. Its amazing how fast a place can decay when it is no longer inhabited. The walls were covered with graffiti and dirt. Books, chairs and desks were just left to sit and rot away. 

Rust

The weathered and warn metal oil tank shows its age as it sits in ruins among many other abandon oil tanks. The rust color overwhelms the photograph only allowing hints of blue and white graffiti to shine through. The paint cracked and faded with time falls off as gust of wind blow past.

Shattered Windows

I cant help but shoot through broken windows; they can create an interesting affect in a photograph. Having the shards of glass in focus and the background fall off can be visually impacting. Also using a shattered window as a frame is very effective. This creates depth in the Photograph and highlights the key aspects you want to make prominent to the viewer. 

Oil Refinery

These are only a few of the images that I took at an abandon oil refinery in California; there was so much to explore there. These old oil tanks were every where I looked, enormous in size both tall and wide. I felt the need to climb to the top. As I slowly worked my way up the stairs, the sun began to create strong shadows from the stairs on the side of the tank. The graffiti that covered these structures were bright and vibrant, unlike the oil tanks themselves as they are faded and have begun to rust. 

Abandon Factory

This is an abandon factory located in philadelphia. It was an ice cold winter evening when I headed up here to photograph the building. Undisturbed from people, the snow lay on the ground blowing in through the broken windows. The windows cast colorful reflections on the ceiling and walls adding a dramatic effect to the image. 

Cape Cod Graffiti

Cape Cod’s natural beauty is known world wide, offering visitors and locals a wide range of outdoor activities most of which are in the warmer months. So when most people think of Cape Cod they don’t think vandalism but in fact you can find some if you look hard enough. Most locals don’t even know about it so when they see photos of such graffiti they think it is in Boston or some where near a larger city. Although graffiti is considered vandalism I think that in some cases it is a form of art. These are some images of the local graffiti I have come across. 

CD

These two photographs where taken at an abandon school in Philadelphia on one very cold early morning. I then used these two images to create a CD cover and back for a school assignment.
